Communication: It’s a two way street

Is your love one hard of hearing?  Here are a few tips to help you communicate better with them!

DO face the person you are communicating with. This allows for access to visual cues.

Do NOT try to converse from a different room or with your back turned.

DO speak naturally.

Do NOT talk quickly or shout. This can actually cause more distortion in the auditory system.

DO rephrase your sentence rather than just repeating yourself.

DO reduce background noise, like the TV or other competing noise, when having a conversation.

At the NDBC Hearing Clinic, our doctors of audiology are here to help you decide which type of hearing aid is best for you.  Don’t miss out on any of your important conversations!  Call to schedule your appointment today or visit our website to learn more.
