Our programs at NDBC utilize a unique approach for diagnosing and treating dizziness, balance disorders, and concussions. We determine the source of the problem, and then definitively treat the source. This approach to treatment is what separates us from non-specialized care received in most clinics.
Our clinical goal is to provide our patients with a lasting solution to their problem, not just a temporary fix to a permanent condition. We give patients back their standard of life they once had before their dizziness or balance problem began interfering with their daily activities. We accomplish this by investing in our specially trained medical staff and utilizing the most sophisticated diagnostic testing technologies to diagnose our patients correctly. These attributes have made NDBC one of the most complete balance and concussion programs in the US.
One of NDBC’s key success factors has been the utilization of a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment. This means it’s possible for our patients to be working with a team of professionals that may include: physicians, neuro psychologists, radiologists, audiologists, and physical therapists. Because our medical staff all work at the same facility, it allows for a true team approach and better patient results. This team approach and continuity of patient care is what makes our program so successful.
Our medical evaluations are unique here at NDBC, because our physicians are specifically trained in the types of patients we see. Our physicians are internally certified at NDBC as well as receiving their Credentialed Impact Consultant (CIC) certification from the Impact University in Pittsburgh, PA.
To properly diagnose our patients with a vertigo, dizziness, balance, or concussion problem, we have state-of-the-art Diagnostic Balance Testing Labs at all facilities. We have multiple assessment tools available in our clinics, including: Impact Concussion Testing, Rotational Chair Testing, Video-Electronystagmography, Evoked Potential Testing, Computerized Dynamic Posturography utilizing NeuroCom’s Smart EquiTest system, and Hearing Evaluations.
In addition to our industry leading diagnostic testing capabilities, we also provide many physical therapy treatment services for our patients, including: Vestibular Rehabilitation, Balance and Fall Prevention Therapy, Concussion Management and Therapy, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Therapy, and general muscle strengthening and reconditioning for our patients.
At all NDBC clinics we utilize NeuroCom’s Smart Equitest Computerized Dynamic Posturography (CDP) for objectively measuring the functionality of our patients’ three sensory inputs (visual, inner ear, sense of touch in feet) for baseline testing in our concussion program, and when patients are entering our rehabilitation programs.
This establishes a starting point for a patient’s rehabilitation program, and enables us to re-test the patient after a month to see how they are progressing. This gives us immediate feedback on the overall effectiveness of a patient’s individualized therapy program and helps us to fine tune each patient’s program to maximize results. This lowers costs, and maximizes effectiveness for each patient.
